James and the Giant Squid?
That's what they're calling this insane story in which a giant squid tries to hitch a ride on a man's paddleboard.
39-year-old James Taylor was paddleboarding with his wife Christina when he spotted the giant squid that he believed was injured.
He lowered a rope to help the squid but the massive sea creature instead decided it might be more comfortable to ride along with James and wrapped its tentacles around the board.
As the squid gets a firmer hold on the board, a wave comes and James goes tumbling into the water.
It’s at this point that the damage to the squid can easily be seen. Large portions of its tentacles are missing and James reported seeing bite marks.
Unfortunately, the squid later died. James believes its extensive injuries are what caused its untimely death, but many people who have watched the video have commented that he may have actually contributed to it due to the added stress.
He posted the incredible video on Instagram and wrote: "Spotted an injured giant squid just behind the waves in Melkboss a while back and decided to try and get it to the beach."
The footage has since received nearly 50,000 views.
