When Joe McGrath was forced to bail at the last minute on a trip to Mallorca with 9 of his friends, he didn’t think they’d replace him so quickly. The nonrefundable trip had already been booked and paid for in McGrath’s name, meaning they needed to find someone with the same name or else it just went to waste. And so the search began.
Three hours away in Manchester, another man by the name Joe McGrath was about to receive a strange message that would change his life.
The group of friends from Bristol wrote, “Hi Joe, would you consider coming on a holiday with a group of nine strangers if they had already arranged flights for you and an all-inclusive hotel?”
Joe took to Twitter to share the exciting news.

At first Manchester-Joe was unsure and likely a little suspicious, but after careful consideration he decided to go.
Off he went to Majorica with 9 complete strangers to celebrate one of the stranger’s 30th birthday.
“I couldn’t not go,” Joe said, “It will never happen to me again!”
In hindsight, Joe is grateful he agreed to the trip. “They were all so nice! I’ve not slept in four days,” Joe said.
He added, “Made my year!! I’ve got myself new best mates. It was mega!”
