Wagner Figueiredo de Lima and his horse Sereno were best friends for many years. Unfortunately, Lima’s life was cut short by a tragic traffic accident. When it came time for Wagner’s funeral, his brother, Wando, decided to bring Sereno along. Wando said, “This horse was everything to him.”
Wando, Wagner’s brother, told Globo News, “It was as if the horse knew what was happening and wanted to say goodbye.”
The entire crowd gathered at Wagner’s funeral couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw what the horse did.
Funeral attendee Kyioshi Abreu told The Dodo that Sereno “began to walk around the coffin smelling the coffin. Then he neighed. It was a very strong emotion."
"Everyone who was there was moved. I cried myself when I saw that scene.”
Sereno then proceeded to rest his head on the coffin, as if in final farewell.
Wando said, “All the way to the cemetery, he would whimper and beat with his hooves on the ground.”
Sereno has a forever home with Wagner's family. They plan to provide the horse with all of the love and care he needs for the rest of his life.
