Australian artist Joshua Smith has an unsurpassed eye for detail and he uses it to pack a surreal amount of details into his urban miniature cities. In order to see all of the details you’d need a magnifying glass and a lot of time!
Smith is well-known for his microscopic artwork. His latest collection, Temple Street, turns the familiar grit of urban life into small-scale models you can’t stop staring at. The focal point of Temple Street is modeled after a real apartment block in Kowloon City, Hong Kong.
Smith included every last detail, no matter how small. He included itty-bitty advertisements, graffiti, cracks in concrete, rust, interior apartment decor and many other minute details of a run down apartment complex in a big city.
“I want viewers to be fooled, if I take a photo of the completed work in sunlight, to think it is the real thing,” Smith told ArchDaily.
