A penguin in a Japanese zoo has fallen head over webbed-feet for a cardboard cutout of an anime girl. Grape-kun is a resident of the Tobu Zoo in Japan. He melted the hearts of thousands when pictures of his adorable infatuation with an anthropomorphic penguin girl called Hululu were shared on Tobu Zoo’s official Twitter account.

Hululu is a character from a new hit anime show called Kemono Friends that stars a cast of anthropomorphic zoo animals. She is a Humboldt penguin just like Grape-kun, which might explain his odd fascination with her.

In a bid to attract more visitors, Tobu Zoo set up over 50 cutouts of characters from the show throughout the park and hired voice actors to do official announcements in their voices as part of a special promotion.

Grape-kun is 20 years old—an old man by penguin standards
